Ever Wonder Where MODOK came from?
Marvel's "Tales of Suspense #94" 1959
Created by AIM as a living super computer to plum the mystery of the Cosmic Cube.
He made the mistake of taking on Captain America while alienating his own AIM personnel.
Dissension in the ranks of the yellow bee keepers is what did him in. But fear not, in classic comic book fashion, MODOK comes back from the dead at least 2 more times.
But if we talk about him too much, I'm afraid MODOK will get a big head.
Oooops, too late!

Blue Moon Racer
Blue moon racer
Braced against the solar winds
Goggles turn the winter sky
To burning chemical yellow
But the smell of exhaust is reassuring
Even as the roaring machine
Careens toward road's end
With untested brakes
Race, blue moon racer
Who the fuck needs brakes?

Singing For My Supper
All Hail our Economic Overlords!
I have been too busy singing for my supper
To be drawing pictures and blogging nonsense
Although the pictures and words I compose for my masters
Are some pretty strange nonsense some days
But at least they are still paying this piper
So until the lazy days return
I offer up this atomic soft serve
Humble pie, free of associations
Light as a feather
Echo, echo, echoic
Egalitarian
Utilitarian
None such
Nonsense

Signed Kirby Krackle CDs
Met Kyle Stevens of Kirby Krackle, the band, at Emerald City Comicon 2011.
Picked up some CDs and got them graciously autographed.
Fun music about Superheroes, video games and other geeky subjects.
Been listening to them all day.
Love the music and love that the band is named after Jack Kirby's method of drawing cosmic energy, Kirby Crackle.

Glad to know I'm not the only Rocket Raccoon Fan
At the Marvel Panel at Emerald City Comicon 2011, Marvel Big Wig Brian Michael Bendis took a moment for our favorite evolved mammal and member of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Rocket Raccoon
In response to a fan request to see Rocket Raccoon in the future, Bendis replied, "I wouldn't be surprised if Rocket Raccoon turned up in the 'Ultimate Spiderman' cartoon -- that's the level of nerdiness that we're at."
Echoes:

Pic from Guardians of the Galaxy issue mmbmhble, from Marvel (insert legal disclaimer here).
By the way, "BRAKKA" is a classic sound blurb for a big gun.
Click on the pic and read the dialog. It's classic Rocket.

The Pile Grew
Last day of the con is when the 50, 60, 70% Off signs start coming
out. And we bought.
I got stuff from a lot of new artists and authors (new to me anyway).
I will try to mention some of the better titles when I actually have a
chance to read some of them.
Met some very nice people. Saw a lot of amazing art. Wish I could
support them all. But my wallet is not bottomless. But it is ECCC-
Empty now...
